BACKGROUND

Welcome to Wynversa Border Collies. My name is Sarah Hand. I am located in the Chicagoland suburbs in Illinois with my husband, Kyle, and we enjoy participating in a variety of dog sports with our border collies. Our goal with breeding is to produce a border collie that is correct in conformation and capable to play in sports while preserving their herding purpose.

I became interested in dogs at an early age by playing around with tricks with my family dogs. I had my first experience training service dogs in college. It wasn't until then that I realized how incredibly intelligent and capable dogs are. I first worked with my trainer's border collies in college shortly after acquiring our first rescue. A few years later, we got our first border collie and then second shortly after. From there, my passion for the breed really grew. After owning border collies, working with border collies, and experiencing the dog sports world, it became clear to me that I am a dedicated person destined to preserve and contribute to this wonderful breed. Of course, no breeding is done in a vacuum and I am grateful for the mentorship I consistently receive from breeders in the community. I have so much respect and gratitude for those who came before me and have already contributed to this wonderful breed.

The ideal border collie is an exceptional, intelligent partner who is willing to work as a teammate with his handler. That is a big reason why I chose the adjectives winsome and versatile to combine into the Wynversa breeding program name. The word winsome can be linked to words such as engaging, sweet, lovable, endearing, captivating, and winning. The word versatile describes embracing a variety of skills. Those adjectives describe the ideal dog I aim to bring into this world for myself and other owners to enjoy. I also believe strongly in effortless movement and sound structure to keep up with the activities my dogs do. The ideal border collie for me is one that is stable in mind and body, mostly to play in sports but to not forget the very core of the breed - instinct and ability to herd.

The Border Collie is not the breed for everyone, which means experienced homes will be given priority in any breedings. The most important home for me to find for my puppies are homes that give their dogs unconditional love and really, truly care about giving their dog the best life. My commitment to my puppy owners includes lifetime support. So, I will be there every step of the way to offer any advice, celebrate your accomplishments, and everything in between!
